Frequently Asked Questions About Skin Conditions
Here are common questions and information about our procedures.
Corn/Wart FAQ

Q.What causes corns?
Corns develop when excessive mechanical twisting or friction forces act chronically. When these forces act on a relatively wide area, they form calluses, and when concentrated on a local area, they form corns. Corns are divided into soft corns and hard corns. Hard corns typically develop on toe tops and soles.

Q.What causes warts?
Warts are conditions where skin and mucous membrane proliferation occurs due to human papillomavirus infection. Wart lesions typically appear as rough, raised papules or plaques. This is the most common form.

Atopic Dermatitis FAQ

Q. What causes atopic dermatitis?
House dust mites are important allergens for atopic dermatitis, and in some cases, food can be the cause. Common triggers include milk, eggs, wheat, nuts, seafood, food additives, and preservatives. Suspected substances can cause itching and rash within 30 minutes to several hours after consumption.

Shingles FAQ

Q. What causes shingles?
The main cause of shingles is (cell-mediated) decreased immunity due to aging, immunosuppressant use, transplantation, AIDS, etc. When immunity decreases, the virus multiplies and re-emerges through nerves to the skin, causing shingles.

Hives/Allergy FAQ

Q. What causes hives/allergies?
Causes of hives include extreme temperatures, sunlight, exercise, viral infections, stress, as well as medications, latex, animal saliva, and insect venom. Very rarely, hives may indicate a serious rare condition known as mastocytosis.

Q. What's the difference between hives and allergies?
Allergies are immune-mediated hypersensitivity reactions to antigens (causative substances) in the environment. Allergic diseases are classified by where the allergic inflammation appears. When it appears in the nose, it's rhinitis; in bronchi, it's asthma; on skin, it's atopic dermatitis or hives.

Nail Fungus FAQ

Q. What causes nail fungus?
It's a condition caused by fungal infection in fingernails or toenails. About 90% of nail fungus cases are caused by Trichophyton (T) rubrum.

Hair Loss FAQ

Q. What causes hair loss?
Hair loss is a condition where hair follicles age and atrophy due to various reasons including genetics, hormones, stress, and scalp heat. When symptoms worsen and the follicles themselves degenerate causing the disappearance of vellus hair, treatment becomes difficult and complicated.
